Mosaic coffee table by Genaro Alvarez. Intricate inlaid glass mosaic design on a mahogany base. Brass band with a beautiful patina around the perimeter. The Mexican Modernist artist lived and worked in Mexico City. Signed by the artist. Made in Mexico, 1950s.

Alvarez studied under artists Carlos Ruano Llopis and Diego Rivera. Employing a style he dubbed symbolic expression, Alvarez was commissioned to do murals in Mexico as well as a series in Chicago, Kansas City and other major cities in the United States.
